JOB SUMMARY:

The Cardiac Monitor Technician I (CMT I) provides continuous observation of ECG patterns for patients on telemetry. The CMT I notifies appropriate nursing staff and physicians within a designated hospital unit of changes from baseline, abnormal heart rhythm patterns, and abnormal ECG interval measurements. The CMT I is competent in medical terminology and possesses technical, communication, organizational, and computer skills. The CMT I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Licensure/Specialized Training:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of Cardiac Monitor Technician training course or equivalent coursework (i.e. Electrocardiography course) from an accredited school required.

Licensure/Certification: Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required within 1 year of hire.

Work Experience: One (1) year cardiac monitoring/related experience in a hospital or one (1) year patient care experience (i.e. Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Assistant) or graduate from an accredited school.

Equipment Operated: Area-specific

Skills/Knowledge: Completes CBT modules one, two and three (1, 2 & 3) within the six (6) week orientation period.
