Job Summary
The Critical Care Transport Paramedic (CCTP) serves as a frontrunner of the multi-disciplinary critical care transport team (CCT) and coordinates the execution of an immediate critical care response encompassing detection, activation, assessment, stabilization, disposition and evaluation of acutely ill patients who ultimately require a safe on-ground transfer from one health care facility to another. During transport, the CCTP functions to assess, monitor, intervene, and stabilize critically ill patients during transport in consultation with the EC faculty and under the direction of the Harris Health System Emergency Medical System (EMS) medical director. The CCTP facilitates team huddles, debriefings and evaluation of the CCT transports as well as contributes to quality and performance improvement initiatives in conjunction with ongoing education and training to staff. The CCTP serves as a clinical expert and consultant to support the healthcare system in providing patient-centered, culturally-competent, outcome-focused critical care transports while aligning practice with state and national EMS accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
HS Diploma/GED
Associate of Applied Science in EMS preferred
Bachelors of Applied Science in EMS or related field preferred

Licenses & Certifications:
a. Graduate of an accredited school offering EMS training. Unrestricted EMT-P; Licensed/Certified in the State of Texas
b. Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) or Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) required within 1 year of employment if not held at time of appointment
c. Current Texas state drivers license
d. NIHSS Stroke certification
e. ACLS
f. PALS

Work Experience: Three (3) years Critical Care Transport or 911 Paramedic In-Charge experience that includes 4000 critical care hours

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact),
Writing/Correspondence, Writing/Reports

Proficiencies: MS Word, P.C.
