Job Summary
The Clinical Dietitian I provides nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy to patients, working closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to maximize patients nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes. Primary responsibilities include managing the daily schedule to maximize patient care, and providing evidenced-based and patient-centered nutrition care to patients. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with projects, presentations and in-services, along with training new dietitian staff and dietetic interns after one year of clinical experience.

This position will provide coverage at multiple Food Farmacy sites within Harris Health System. The primary population served is patients with diabetes who screen positive for food insecurity and are enrolled in a food prescription program. Daily responsibilities include conducting one-on-one assessments, both in-person and virtual, and conducting engaging activities such as food demos and interactive games to help patients understand the relationship between food and diabetes management. The Food Farmacy Dietitian will also assist with developing education resources and training staff on food safety and principles of healthy eating.

Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
Bachelors of Dietetics, Food Science or Nutrition required;
Masters of Dietetics, Food Science or Nutrition preferred.

Licenses & Certification:
Registered Dietitian prior to hire
Licensed Dietitian (LD) State of Texas within 60 days of hire

Eligible certifications: Advanced Practitioner Certification in Clinical Nutrition (RDN-AP), Board Certification as a Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR); Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM); Board Certification in Oncology Nutrition (CSO); Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP); Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC); Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) preferred.

Work Experience: One year experience in Dietetics/Nutrition preferred.
