The Nursing Program Manager (NPM)is accountable for the operational, human resource, quality, and financial management of assigned nursing specialty area(s)/programs. This manager works with the administrative director to translate pavilion and department strategic plans and policies into a plan suitable to the unique operational needs. The NPM leads implementation and evaluation of the plan and provides reports relevant to achievement of goals. As Applicable, the NPM is accountable for assuring the HCHD Nursing Professional Practice Model (NPPM) is implemented and targeted outcomes achieved on assigned area(s)/program. The NPM provides oversight to ensure area care delivery, quality management, and staff utilization patterns are congruent with NPPM framework. In addition, this manager facilitates actualization of shared governance and practice level advancement of area personnel. The NPM has the authority to make all operational and human resource decisions relevant to his or her assigned area as long as decisions are consistent with district and nursing and departmental policies, standards, and other Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Executive Council approved guidelines.

The NPM is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. As a member of the nursing leadership team, the NPM establishes a setting that supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The NPM ensures compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The NPM is accountable for nursing practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The NPM mentors others, role models professionalism, and participation in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, the community.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field required. Masters degree in Nursing or related field is preferred. Holds at least one (1) of the following in Nursing: Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree.
If the program manager is not responsible for supervising licensed nurses, a Bachelors degree in a related field is required/accepted.

Licensure/Certification: Applicable professional certification in administration is to be completed within two (2) years, if not held at the time of appointment. Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program. Other certificates as required by unit/service.


Work Experience: Three (3) years of work experience in related clinical area of practice.

Management/Experience: One (1) year related management/leadership experience is required.
