Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Participates in the implementation of the Patient Safety Plan throughout Harris Health System. Supports Patient Safety Manager and Patient Safety Director with serious reportable event investigation. Maintains regulatory compliance in areas of patient safety. Completes mandatory reporting requirements to local, state, and federal agencies as delegated. Uses recognized methods to identify gaps in processes and assist departments to implement strategies to increase the delivery of safe patient care. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have clinical knowledge to conduct thorough investigations of patient safety events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:
Current State of Texas RN Licensure. Associates Degree in Nursing or higher
or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with ten (10) years of nursing experience.
Or non-licensed person with a minimum of five (5) years of patient safety
experience in a hospital setting.

Work Experience:
Two (2) years healthcare experience as a Registered Nurse or LVN with ten (10) years of nursing experience. A health care provider with two (2) years of experience in risk management, patient safety, or quality management related activities preferred, not required. Or non-licensed person with a minimum
of five (5) years of patient safety experience in a hospital setting.

Equipment Operated:
Computer, calculator, fax, copier, camera.

Advanced Education:
