Job Summary
Work in a challenging but rewarding environment with like-minded, mission-oriented team members. The candidate needs to possess strong clinical and communication skills, and be highly accountable. This person provides high quality care for individuals housed in the Harris County Jail. Performs intake health assessments, manages urgent care issues, identifies and treats chronic care illnesses, and collaborates with advanced practice practitioners. Work in conjunction with Harris County Sheriff Office deputies. Works in conjunction with nursing staff, and on-site services such as: radiology, pharmacy, nutrition, dental, and laboratory services. May require communication with Harris Health Transfer Center or other local hospitals if patients require a higher level of care. Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Degrees
Doctor of Medicine - Board Certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency and maintain board certification throughout employment. Must become board certified before board eligibility runs out. Must meet all credentialing criteria, as set by the Medical Executive Committee.

Licensure
Texas Medical Board- M.D. or D.O. must hold a valid Texas license to practice medicine and be registered as a physician in the State of Texas

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License. Must remain active throughout employment.

Work Experience
Completion of an ACGME accredited 3-year or 4-year residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
