Job Summary
Responsible for prescription authorization to support prescribing of medications for insured patients. Provides customer service while collaborating with providers, pharmacy, nursing and internal team members for any questions or issues related to the prescription authorization. Responsible for submitting, processing and ensuring authorization is resolved by following payor rules and guidelines. Updates all benefits in Epic to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement for services when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education: High School Diploma or GED

Degrees: Associate's Degree or 2 years of college preferred

Licenses and Certification: Pharmacy Technician; Texas State Board of Pharmacy

Work Experience: Three (3) years work experience with Prescription/Pharmacy authorization (Epic software a plus) with progressive customer service experience

Language Skills: Spanish preferred

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact), Writing/Correspondence, Writing/Reports

Proficiencies: MS Excel, MS Word, Personal Computer

Work Schedule: Weekdays

Equipment Operated: Must have PC skills, knowledge of computerized patient accounting/registration and eligibility systems, and facsimile operation.

successfully in a culturally diverse environment.
