Job Summary
A Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist is both a Registered Respiratory Therapist AND either a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) who has been validated by successful completion of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) requirements. They maintain a professional RCP license by the Texas Medical Board.
This position will emphasize advanced testing of the cardiopulmonary system to include pediatric and adult exercise pulmonary stress testing. This position will also be instrumental in education and research studies. Responsible for analyzing and obtaining physiologic specimens, interpreting physiologic data, performing tests of the cardiopulmonary system, assisting with diagnostic procedures, applying and monitoring medical gases and aerosols, and administering pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
Associates; graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or other accrediting body approved by the advisory board.
Bachelor's Degree preferred; graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or other accrediting body approved by the advisory board.

Licenses & Certifications:
-Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
AND
-Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (Obtained within twelve (12) months of hire if not held at time of appointment)
-ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA)
-Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Texas Medical Board

Work Experience: One (1) year in a Pulmonary Function Department Performing adult and/or pediatric complex PFT procedures or three (3) years in a Respiratory Care Department including at least one (1) year critical care experience.

Language Skills: BilingualSpanish Preferred

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contract); Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking); Writing /Correspondence, Writing / Reports

Proficiencies: Personal Computer
