Job Summary:

Responsible for patrolling, protecting, and securing all Harris Health System's buildings and grounds, promoting safety and security at all locations. Promotes safety and security at all Harris Health locations. Responds to all crisis intervention team activations, prevents patient elopements, and assist medical staff with restraint of patients as requested.

Serves as assigned Mileu Officer in designated hospital areas. Work requires a continuously high level of awareness in the milieu in order to react promptly and effectively to emergencies, and visual acuity in order to detect suspicious activities. Work requires ability to physically intervene in medical and behavioral emergencies. Work also requires exposure to risk of physical injury by assaultive patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

License & Certifications:
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) Basic Peace Officer Certification or TPSB (Texas Private Security Bureau) Level III Certification required at point of hire
- CPR training within six months of employment
- IAHSS Basic Security Officer Training Program within six months of employment
- SAMA certification within six months of employment
- Must be registered by the Texas Private Security Bureau within 90
days of employment.
- TPSB Level IV Certification preferred

Work Experience:
Three (3) years work experience In security, criminal justice, military, or healthcare, or a combination of the above
Five (5) years healthcare security or behavioral health experience preferred

Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Writing /Reports

Proficiencies:
P.C. Typing; 20-29 wpm, MS Word

Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, Overtime

Other Requirements: E-1 availability during disaster situations. Must be able to understand the English language and communicate it effectively in both verbal and written form. Proficiency in the use of computers is required. Supervises shift activities in the absence of the security supervisor.
